This year was my second Christmas at James' parents house and
I was reminded just how lucky I am to have in-laws who have warmly welcomed me into their family. On Christmas morning, I could have cried. Beside enormous stockings laid out for their sons was an equally humungous stocking just for me, inside it dozens of carefully selected gifts. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was very much a family affair, with lovingly prepared meals, entertaining conversation and lots of time spent together in between. I absolutely love being at James' parents house and hope one day to replicate the beautiful family Christmas his mum and dad put on year after year. Here's some pictures I managed to take on Christmas day:

It's now time for us to pack our bags for Melbourne and South Australia to see my family. I'll keep you posted on everything we get up to while we're down there!

...What are your plans for the New Year?

I'm heading off to the in-laws for Christmas and I have just enough time to update you on a little of what I've been up to lately...

First of all, I'm going to show you what I think is every girl's dream snow globe. I found this little beauty at the Chanel Counter at David Jones. Swoon!

While I spent a lot of time in department stores, I also spent an equal amount of time outdoors enjoying the awesome Sydney weather. I've even taken the cooking outside most days! You can keep your celebrity chefs - I've got a handsome cook of my very own at home!

The beginning of summer also called for nights out on the town. I hung out with D and K until the wee hours a couple of weekends ago...

... And wore this gorgeous number from Kookai. I think playsuits are my new favourite thing!

I stuffed my face with the very most juicy burger from Grill'd...

...Before having to fast for a surgery!

As always, James was right by my side.

And now I'm just waiting for him to finish work (yes, you heard that right) before we can join his family for their annual Christmas Eve Barbecue. I don't know whether we'll make it on time but I'll be making sure we aren't rushing to get there. The same goes for all you folk on the roads this Christmas - drive carefully!

I wish all of you lovely readers a safe and happy Christmas. Feel free to leave your links in the comments field below - I'm planning on relaxing by the pool with blogs as my reading material over the next few days! Lots of love, Anna xxxx

Yesterday was my sister's last night in Sydney so we headed in to the city for cocktails and grub. We chose Ivy as the destination as Level One has had a gorgeous little facelift that I wanted Rachel to see, as well as a new dining destination, Sunee's Thai Canteen. We shared carafes of Pimms and piles of utterly moreish entrees. I was too excited to dig in that I didn't think to take pictures of the food! We did manage some pictures from the night but you'll have to pardon the quality - I couldn't think of anything more inconvenient than lugging my camera around a nightclub!

I hope I'll be able to see my sister again really soon. We have had the most awesome week and saying goodbye to her (and Elphin) today has left me with a heavy heart and mascara all down my cheeks. I'm hoping a funny movie and some cuddles with Elsa and James will cheer me up.

What are you up to tonight? Can you believe there's only four more sleeps until Christmas?!

Today, this was my facebook status:

"I love getting dolled up with my sister just to go to the shops, then trying on a million things and feeling very confident because she knows me so well and finds me the nicest things to wear. Despite walking in high shoes all day and coming home with burning feet, it was fun because we experienced it together. I love my sister."

For anyone who has a sister and best friend rolled into one, you will understand just how good it feels to know this kind of bond.  Obviously my facebook status tells you what we got up to today, so I will try not to make this post too wordy. As usual, we got ourselves ready and, as usual, we took a great number of "vanity" shots in front of the mirror. Of course, only one made the cut:

As it is now summer and the world outside is a furnace, the Polar Bears of Australia make their way to air conditioned shopping centres. You know, 'cause it reminds them of home. This one was actually mechanical and moved as if begging me to give him a pat. I willingly obliged.

We did a lot of browsing but needed some sustenance in order to make wise purchases... Hello seafood and sparkling! Rach had the Salmon and Chips, I had Barramundi with Greek Salad.

Suitably energised, we went on our shopping rampage. Rachel played pack horse while I was on camera duty:

I can't show you everything we bought because I might spoil a few people's Christmas, but I can show you what we got our hot little hands on!

Our accessories were a steal from Diva; My neon shorts, black studded top and Rachel's jumpsuit were from Dotti; the sweetheart cut singlet was from Bardot. Rachel's incredible little shorts and sexy top in the last picture were from a brand called Kiki Kaka who I can't seem to find online. I don't think my pictures do any of these pieces justice so I'll have to try and capture them in another post. I'm thinking we'll bring out some of our new threads tomorrow night, to mark Rachel's last night here. I am going to be devastated so see her go! Though I said I wouldn't make this post too wordy (oops) I really want to share with you a quote that I think does a pretty good job of describing the bond between sisters. I don't think I could have put it better myself:

“Sister. She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink..." - Barbara Alpert

Do you have a sister? Are you as thick as thieves too?
