No-one could have prepared me for the task of planning a wedding. I was quite smug when we first started planning our special day - I had my church and reception venue picked out almost straight away and thought the "little" things like choosing flowers and dresses would be a cinch. Though I have been quite certain about general details, such as the shape of the dress or the music I would like played at the reception, I came to realise very quickly that there is a heck of a lot of detail and careful planning that needs to take place to make sure getting hitched goes without a hitch!

I now realise that choosing a dress or music or cake or anything else, involves a lot of detail and strong communication. Not to mention lots of telephone calls and trips across town. Details, I found when we had our appointment to look at invitations, are not my strongest point and I take my hat off to anyone who has ever planned their own wedding! Truth be told, I haven't had found anything in the way of dresses, hairstyles or floral arrangements I like in the mammoth stack of wedding magazines that resides in my living room. If it wasn't for Pinterest, I would be pulling my hair out! I'll share with you a few of my (rough) ideas courtesy of my Pinterest board...

The Dress: I know I want a sweetheart cut, mermaid/trumpet/fishtail dress. I am not head over heels about any in particular but these are a start, in terms of basic shape.

The Bridesmaid Dress: My little sister will be decked out in black or midnight blue that's so dark it's almost-black. I think I' going to need a dressmaker for this part as I haven't seen anything around that I fancy yet.

The Hair: The only things I am sure of are that I want to wear my hair up with a bangin' bouffant....

The cake: There'll only be a couple of layers and I want to keep it as simple as possible. A ribbon or detailing in a cream shade is as far as I'm willing to go in terms of decorating. Shouldn't be too hard, right?

The Flowers: Like the cake, I'm staying tame. Creamy bouquets and low table arrangents with a splash of green are the order of the day. Our reception venue really doesn't need much dressing up as it's a gorgeous space with Sydney Harbour as its backdrop!

This is pretty much where I'm at in terms of creating a vision for the whole day. I know there's a whole lot more to think about and actually decide upon but I'm sure we can tackle it in the time we've got. I should note that while my vision might be a little fuzzy for the big day, I am certain of one thing...

  1. Hi,

Do you know where can I find the wedding dress from the second or fifth one?? I absolutely loved them :)

    1. Coral,

I had a good look but I can't find the name of the designers anywhere!

Thanks for taking the time to leave your comments - I love receiving them!
